Frank Mitchell Beameris a retired American college football coach, most notably for the Virginia Tech Hokies, and former college football player. Beamer was a cornerback for Virginia Tech from 1966 to 1968. His coaching experience began in 1972, and from 1981 to 1986 Beamer served as the head football coach at Murray State University. He runs our team. He's very much in control. He's the calmest guy on our sideline as far as I can tell, and that's the mark of a good quarterback and a good leader for your offense. He's always got it under control.

The guy played really fantastic for an opening ballgame, very much in control, ... I think he had one poor check, and that was it. For a game that was moving as fast as that one was, I think that was a great opening game for him. I think you'll see him get better each and every week.

He's played a lot at both positions. He played a year at guard. He played a year at center. Now, he's going back and forth. It's not like one of those positions is a new position for him. And I think his intelligence helps him. Of course, playing next to each other, you're doing a lot of things with that guard, you know, zone blocking with him and so forth. I think that makes it a little easier.

I think we have good coaches and good players in this state. We've really made an effort to re- cruit well in the state. I think the records would show that we have, particularly in the last few years. You look at our roster and it is further proof that we are winning with a lot of Virginia kids.

The line is coming along. Orion Martin gives us a fourth defensive end, and we really like him. I think that's a key for us. If we've got eight (defensive linemen) and can rotate four at a time, and stay fresh, we can get after it.
